Boot Scan!!!!!!

Boot scan??? Has this issue been resolved? It never runs.

Pro
5.0.594

Vista

Why doesn’t it run, what happens ?
Are you trying to schedule it from a limited user account ?

Is you OS 64bit ?

My account is an administrator account and on that computer it is 32 bit XP pro… I incorrectly posted Vista in the previous post.

Upon boot the system boots normally. No hint of the boot scan at all.

Did you schedule it before…??

Yes… And after boot, when I go to the Boot Scan screen, it is still scheduled. Is there a log file generated for the boot scan?

Yes. It’s called ‘aswBoot.txt’

I the boot-time screen still shows it is scheduled then it hasn’t run and I doubt that the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Alwil Software\Avast5\report\aswBoot.txt will be present.

I suspect that there might be a security function blocking the scheduling of the boot-time scan, that is most likely to be one that protects the registry. So what other security applications or utilities that might cover the registry do you have installed ?

SUPERantispyware. I run Crap Cleaner about once every couple of weeks.

Problem fixed! I unscheduled, closed program, opened it back up and scheduled it again. Next boot it worked. Thanks for your help.

Well SAS shouldn’t get in the way as I have the pro version which is resident and it didn’t stop me from scheduling a boot-time scan after initially installing avast5.

The same is true of ccleaner, since it isn’t resident it shouldn’t get in the way of a registry entry being created or modified.

Have (or did) you another Anti-Virus installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?

Unfortunately I’m at a loss as to why this might be happening, looks like a hiccup, which fortunately you have now resolved.
