Boot Scan

Does anyone know if Avast generates a log file when doing a boot scan? If so, where is it? This the first time in many months that I did the boot scan. I also don’t remember if the system reboots when finished. I don’t remember it doing that before.

It does, but depending on your settings it may be set to interactive mode were you have to make the decision on what action to take if something is found.

Look in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Avast Software\Avast\report\aswBoot.txt file (XP location) C:\ProgramData\Avast Software\Avast\report\aswBoot.txt (Vista, Win7 location), check this file using notepad for info on the scan/detections, etc.

Yes I know this is an old topic but it was the one that came up first when I searched.

Just wanted to add that for people looking for the AVAST report folder mentioned with Win XP in the above posts you will likely have to do this unless you have overidden the default settings:-

My Computer > appropriate drive/partition > Documents & Settings > All Users

In All Users left click on the Folder Options icon in the toolbar and then the View tab. Check the “Show Hidden Folders” option and then Apply > OK.

In All Users you should now have the Applications Data folder being shown and as described ^ that is where you’ll find:-

AVAST Software > Avast > report > aswBoot.txt

Just found the file on my Windows-7 box here:

C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\report\aswBoot.txt

I’m running version 10.4.2233. Hope this helps.

I think that’s exactly what David listed in his post.
