Boot Scan

Hi, I have question about boot scan. When I use boot scan it notates scan report on the dos page while it’s scanning(I think it means will be issued) and gives *text address on the hard like C:******.text. I chose repair auto in settings. But every time I boot scan this way I cannot find the report to see what if anything was repaired or quarantined.
Thanks, it’s the free version that I am trying out.

  1. Why are you running a boot scan? This should only be done when recommended by avast during/after a regular scan.
  2. GUI>Scan>lower right corner click “scan history”>click on which log you want to see>click “detailed report”
  3. Or…GUI>right click on a tile>click “change shortcut”>make choice.

FYI I haven’t run a boot scan in years.

FYI I haven't run a boot scan in years.
I'm just the opposite. I do a Boot Time Scan and once I know it's clean, I don't see any reason for repeated scans. :) To each their own. :)

Don’t you run at the very least a weekly quick scan?
Me a weekly “custom quick scan” then a monthly “custom full scan”.
The monthly full scan is done before I do my monthly system back-up.

Thanks, I just missed the GUI for it. Well I have used boot scan three times in the pass few months, But only after quick scan and full scan did not find a virus and from the way my computer was acting I thought could have. And two of the three times boot scan found a virus. Two viruses the first time I ran it and one the second time I ran it. Last night I ran it, because it was acting up again and set it to auto fix on boot scan, just started it and turn in for the night. Windows powers down after it finishes. Just like the two previous times, regular scan showed nothing and I was not notified or suggested to run a Boot scan. just did not know where to check the log… well it turned out to be a network problem and not a virus:) But thanks again for responding… i love the fact there is a boot scan built in and you do not have to use boot disks when you get a BAD one…I away’s do it with a purpose

Two viruses the first time I ran it and one the second time I ran it.
was they detected as PUP ?

Why a quick scan ? If the boot scan told me my system is clean and anything added or changes automatically
gets checked then why run the other scans ? I’ll do another boot scan when the next major release of avast! comes out.
I do make regular Image backups so I always have something to fall back on.
It’s worked for the past 10 years and I don’t think I’m about to change.

Just thought I’d ask. Like you said “to each their own”.
By the way, that is exactly what I thought you did. 8)
