I’m currently using windows vista and whenever I try to do a boot scan it will run for about 15 min then my monitor will go blank and I will see nothing. I always end up having to restart my laptop and then it gives me a message about how windows was not shut down properly. Also I’m using the home version of avast.
Can someone please help me out?
Can you check if the fans are working?
Does this occur (monitor goes black) in any other situation?
Do you have any other antivirus in this computer? Had in the past?
Can you check the latest files scanned in the report file?
\Data\Report\aswBoot.txt
I can still hear the fans working.
The screen normally goes black after its been idle for an hour.
I use to have norton antivirus on here but uninstalled it.
When I went to the report file it just said scan all local drives .
Please, follow:
- Remove NAV through Add/Remove programs from Control Panel. Boot.
- Use Norton Removal Tool for Windows 2000/XP/Vista. Boot.
- Install avast! (or repair the installation) and boot.
I just tried all of that with the same results but I just found that windows defender is still turned on will that affect this program?
No, Windows Defender is fully compatible with avast.
If you run a scanning into Windows, will it crash too?
No it works fine if I run it in windows only when I’m boot scanning.
Bit of a long shot here, from someone with no experience in the ways of Vista, but what sort of power management profile is set? Could it be detecting an “idle” state, and turning itself off?
That was it thanks!
Well. Sometimes “long shots” are worth posting!
You’re welcome.
