Boot time scan has deleted some of my files

Hi,

I ran a boot time scan, 9% of the way and it seems to have deleted a lot of my files and it kind of looks like it’s been factory reset (e.g. my start menu doesn’t have the same things pinned to it and my desktop is set out different). Just wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to fix it.

Cheers,

Why did you run a BootScan?..any problems
What files was deleted / location of files, full file path
What malware name did avast give the detected files

Avast recommended it after i did a full system scan, which only came up with one issue which it was able to fix.
The files that I lost were mainly from my downloads file This PC->Downloads. It also changed my background and deleted all the notes I had up, as well as deleting some short cuts on my desktop and programs that I had pinned to my start menu.
I’m not sure what you mean by malware name, sorry I’m new to this kind of thing.

When avast detect a infected file it will give it a malware name...

Examples: Win32:Malware-gen / Win32:Trojan-gen / Win32:Ransom-AQL [Trj] … and many many more

So what name did avast give detected files?
You may see it in avast chest if files was moved there

See instructions here https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
Attach Malwarebytes and Farbar Recovery Scan Tool logs here … when done a malware expert will have a look

In my Virus Chest, from that date there’s: Win32:Conduit-B[PUP], JS:Clickjack-B[Trj], Win32:Adware-gen[Adw], Win64:Conduit-B[PUP],MSIL:BrowseFox-BA[PUP]

With so many different infections you find it strange that avast deleted a lot of files and changed things ?

Time for you to move to the “viruses and worms” forum.
