Boot time scan keyboard error - where's the patch?

Hello. I just downloaded avast for the first time 2 days ago. I’m trying to get rid of a really bad phishing trojan. But I am not able to do a boot time scan because everytime it says ‘keyboard error’ and then no files get scanned :(. And yes, I have already checked the boot log in the DATA folder. The scan only lasts for about 4 seconds and it’s over.

I read on another thread that there’s a patch available to fix this problem. It was created by one of avasts own programmers. So I found it on another old thread and I tried to save the file but my computer said that the file already exists on my computer. So I don’t get it. What’s going on? Please, where can I find the most recent version of that patch? Thank You.

Is this avast V4.8 or V5

Sorry, I forgot to mention - it is 4.8

What OS do you have 32bit/64bit

Try repair avast
For a repair of avast. Windows, Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button from the pop-up window, scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.

You can also try these for removal of the trojan

update and run quick scan, click the button “remove selected” to quarantine anything found, and restart

I have Windows XP 32bit.

I will try repairing avast.

Actually I have already tried Malwarebytes and it did get rid of most of it but then the trojan regenerated itself

but thank you anyhow

Yes, that’s one of the threads I had seen. The avast programmer who made the patch is called vojtech.

Actually I have already tried Malwarebytes and it did get rid of most of it but then the trojan regenerated itself

you should ask for help in the " virus and worm " forum and let Oldman or Essexboy remove it

if you want to continue trying yourself, you can also try
