Boot time scan not working

Tried to perform a boot time scan today and didnt work. The scan starts at boot but takes like 10 seconds to complete and still infect
Tried running boot scan after avast updates on other computers and same thing
I ran it yesterday on one system and worked fine so not sure if latest updates have anything to do with this.

c:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\report\aswBoot.txt looks like this

07/31/2007 22:04

The 2 times are 2 diffrent attempts

What is your os?

Windows XP SP2 on 3 computers

I’m having the same problem with my boot time scan after an avast update earlier today. I found a post describing similar issues in 2003 and am wondering if it is another bug in avast. http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=256.0

Please post the Avast4\DATA\log\aswBoot.log file.

and am wondering if it is another bug in avast.

Another? Which other bugs are you refering to?

Cheers
Vlk

Anyway, the issue DOES replicate on our machines, and we’ll do something about it.
It seems to be related to the most recent VPS update.

Thanks
Vlk

Hi Vlk…

Got the error message also when trying to perform Bootscan.

Attached a copy of the log. Hope it helps you.

The problem should be solved with the latest vps update.

Cheers
Vlk

I was able to do a boot time scan. Worked just fine. Thanks! ;D

In my environment, boot-scan fails again. I confirmed both of VPS and program are latest(VPS:000766-0 Program:4.7.1029). I have checked avast found ad-ware in
my computer. Please refer to the log file for detail.

OS:Windows XP PRO SP2
Avast:Home Edition Japanese Version

usatosi, can you search the board for 0xC0000005 keyword?
For instance:

No, it’s not…

It really is great, when you come on here, thinking you’re the only person in the world with a certain problem, expecting to have to start a new thread, and you find other people are suffering with the same problems as you (well, some of my problems, anyway! ;D)

No boot scan for me either (4.7.1029, 0766-1)

I also am experiencing the problem with bot time scan.
I have the most recent version and VPS installed.

I am looking forward to help from alwil on this . . . patch needed, perhaps?
Jim

One of the Alwil team has acknowledged this problem and they are working on the fix, which shouldn’t be long, this week I believe was mentioned.

Alwil acknowledges the boot time scanning bug (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=29999.msg247134#msg247134). You’ll need to wait for the next program update.

Thank you for your comment.

With VPS 767-0 I’ve done boot time scan successfully!

Ditto here, all is good! ;D Thanks!
