Boot Time Scan Option Only

Why does my Avast only provide me with the option to perform a boot time scan? I am using Avast Premier and have upgraded to the latest version but I don’t get the options to perform other type of scans such as a Quick scan or a Full scan. Can anyone tell me why this is and how to resolve this? I’ve attached a screenshot of the options I’m getting.

Thanks

No, there should be other options.

Try a repair of avast:
XP - Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and select Repair, click next and follow.

Vista, win7 or later - Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Uninstall/Change and select Repair, click next and follow.

You may need to reboot after the repair.

Thanks for your reply. I’ve tried what you suggested and restarted the computer but it didn’t resolve the issue

Hi,

Unfortunately we have seen more reports like yours.

A clean install should fix it :

Download Avast! Uninstall Utility to your Desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast!

Avast! Free
Avast! Pro
Avast! Internet Security
Avast! Premier

Disconnect from the internet.
Uninstall Avast via control panel.

Run the uninstall tool and accept the reboot to safe mode.
Once complete reboot your system.
Reinstall Avast!

Greetz, Red.

im also having the exact same problem
also when i click on a file to scan it, it used to show the progress now all i get is a blank box on the popup scan box
this seems to have changed with your last update

why put your customers through a bunch of extra work by doing clean install etc etc.
why not just have software that works?! we paid enough for it
why not just update the program again so it works?
im sure there are many other antivirus programs out there that work without a whole bunch of hassle no?
please fix this issue and send out the updates (again).

why put your customers through a bunch of extra work by doing clean install etc etc.
Are you perfect ? ;)

no but im not a major software company selling my services to customers.
the above steps worked but i still shouldnt have had to go through all that
avast should make sure the updates work before sending out the updates

And how do you think they can test their software on over 200 million systems all with different os’s, installed software, settings etc. before releasing it?
Think about how long that will take and by the time they are finished, the software is already be very outdated.
And are you gonna pay for all those systems and employees ?

The people suggesting a clean install are avast users just like yourself - we have found in cases like this, generally it is some sort of corruption.

The extra step of doing a clean install rather than a normal reinstall, is quicker in the long term. If you did a normal reinstall without using the uninstall utility and that didn’t work, you would then have to do the clean install. You have now essentially doubled the work and would be a much less happy bear.
