Is there any way to run the boot-time scan without starting windows all the way up and opening avast and telling it to run next time the computer is started?
I got a virus program, and every time i start the computer it freezes just as the desktop is loaded, so I cannot set avast to scan.
Help is much appreciated.
Try to start windows in “safe mode” by pressing “F8 button” during your machine begins to start (when BIOS welcome screen appeared), so then you can use avast! to scan for virus in this safe mode or schedule its boot-time scan.
Boot in Safe Mode and run:
C:\Program Files\ALWIL Software\Avast4\sched.exe /A:*
Are you using Windows XP?
Do you mean another antivirus software or an infected program (a virus)?
Thanks, I am using windows xp, and i did mean a program containing a virus, not an antivirus program. I already have gone into safe mode and scheduled a boot-time scan, and I am now using my newly cleaned machine again. Thanks for the help.
Did the boot time scanning find anything? Did you send it to Chest (Quarantine)?
yes, and yes
So, which was the full name and path of the infected files detected? :
