Boot up quicker with self-defence off by 2 minutes.
My boot up has been slow since I first used 4.8 beta thru 4.8.1178. I first tried shutting off rootkit scan at start up, made no difference.
Turning off self-defence made a significant difference!
I hope this will be fixed soon.

So that I can try to compare your timings can you tell me when you consider “boot up” ends?

When all my start ups finish loading in my task bar.
Everything went faster w/sd off even before the start ups started loading.

This machine is two years old today (it was birthday gift 2 years ago) so it is not the fastest one on the block either but I keep a tight rein on what is allowed in my startup list (services and programs).

I also keep a tight rein on my start ups, most are disabled with WP. The start ups themselves only take a minute or less to load.
I seem to remember someone else had slow booting caused by SD with 4.8 beta, but can’t find it in forum search.
