I am a personal user. I was downloading an update to 4.7. I have a Dell latitude with XP. No problems previously. The update appeared to load OK…but on reboot I get this message. “Last update message…Package is Broken”
Any way to fix this, other then uninstall and reload? I dont know the earlier version since it does not appear in the “about aVast!” Also, is there a place to download aVast home user edition without signing up to CNET?
Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.
I searched Google for the terms aVast and Broken Package and found some ideas. I have a copy of aVast 4.6 so I will definately save it in another safe placed. (Just in case I need to start over)
Also, I tried a manual update and this worked. I have now switched back to the AUTO update and hope the next time I open the laptop all is well.
Great product and certainly not as invasive as Nortons!
