Browser Hijackers on my Imac

Hello,

I have an Imac and my three browsers are infected with browser hijackers. I have Firefox, safari and Google chrome running. I got overwhelmed by 5 advertising pages opening at the same time, being redirected to advertising pages instead of my wordpress dashboard etc.

I found out my Firefox contained the add-on extension gophoto . Search Search.gophoto.it is a classified browser hijacker I found out. What I alraidy did yesterday evening was remove the extension and cleared firefox cookies.

There is still one extension that I don’t trust completely: The adobe contribute toolbar in the firefox extensions, since it is reported adobe flashplayer downloads can be infected and it was reported as false in my troubleshooting map of Firefox. But I reported this on a firefox forum and am waiting for the answer. I didn’t remove it yet, since i first want to know wheter it is ok or not. I am not at all experienced with PC’s. I tlook for the problem solving on internet, so I wnat to be carefull with manually removing.

I also removed the content the library/ Mozilla/ extension map. This morning I did again a full scan with my free avast. He reported that he was not able to scan 135 items. I checked my library again. In the map preferences I also saw a Gophotoinstaller file and I removed it. So I am worried there is still some dirty to clean up work in the library.

Google chrome and safari I will figer out now. what i saw alraidy in firefox is that I’m getting redirected to the banners don’t work page. Which is also a reported browser Hijacker. I alraidy cleared cookies. I saw that in the settings of the search engines, there is a page that shouldn’t be there. www.belgerinkel.be. On the google chrome forum I found out tips to remove it, but it just doesn’t want to be removed. I googled the description of www.belgerinkel.be (didn’t open it) and saw it is a site for a lot of advertising shit. So I know for sure it is a malware.

Do you think I should do a complete reset of my pc? This is what one of the Switch shop sellers advised me.

Thank you for your help in advance!

Regards,

Anouk

Mac forum section is here https://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=5.0

I also saw I have in the library a citrixonlinewebdeployment plug in. The weird thing is that if I google it, it is something for windows. Why should I have a window internet plug in on my imac; shall I remove it?

SafeSurf sent him/her back. :frowning:
