Browser redirect infection - digitalprivacyalert.org

Using Firefox. “Reset FF” does not help. Neither Avast nor MBAM are able to detect.
Had this issue in the past where Essexboy wrote a successful “system reset” script. (Didn’t want to dig that out and rerun in case there’s something different about either the virus or my machine).

Thanks for taking a look.

Have you tried this? >> AdwCleaner https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/

Malware expert is notified, check back tomorrow

adwcleaner came back clean, no threats detected.
Thanks for the quick reply, Pondus. Will look in again tomorrow.

Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

How is your system now?

Thx dbrisendine.
Log attached.
Will don a flight suit and take this unit over the Internet tomorrow - report back.

No recurrence - good to go.
I hate these infections; no idea where this piece of trash came from and especially where it was hiding.
Glad it’s gone but computer mystery gives me a rash. >:(

Thx DB

Most likely (from the Fixlog) this was a bad DNS record. Flushing the DNS cache and resetting the firewall rules usually takes care of the issue.
