When I first installed Avast IS 7(I was using Norton’s free version from Comcast for last years with Avast free as a backup. When Norton missed a virus Avast caught, I decided to support the developers and buy it) the web-browsers (chrome & IE 9) both worked fine with the orange box around them.
Sometime in the last week, when I clicked on Chrome(I don’t use IE 9) the notification pop-up that it was sandboxed appeared, & it shows in process manager but never actually opens, to see. I tried opening IE9 just to see if it was also affected, which it was.
I have tried clearing the sandbox cache, then rebooting, and doing a repair install on Avast IS 7, but the issue still exists. I had to un-check the box for Chrome, and remove the path to chrome.exe from the always run virtualized list, to be able to access the internet.
What do I need to do, to get things back to normal?
I feel much safer with the sandbox.
Thanks
I booted up my PC today, and the same issue is plaguing me. When I click on Chrome, in the quick launch(or desktop) the avast notification pops-up, that chrome is sand-boxed, and is shown in the processes section of task manager, as running, however it never appears as a GUI.
My specs are:
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
2.56Ghz Core2Duo cpu
256 MB Nvidia Geforce GPU (6300m)
5GB DDR3 1333Mhz [1GB is on-board + 4GB Kingston]
1TB 7,200Rpm WD black HDD
I also have MBAM Pro, up-to-date, as is avast. Scans with both have come up negative for everything except a few tracking cookies
Strangely, this seems to have happened, shortly, after the last set of MS Updates. I did do a system restore back, to before that time, but those updates are still installed. Un-installing them, rebooting, and trying Chrome still does all the same issues as described above.
