I have been experiencing an unusual issue with the Avast browser for the past two weeks. It fails to retain my Gmail user login sessions, requiring me to re-enter my credentials and authentication factor each time, which was not the case previously. This problem extends beyond Gmail, affecting all websites with the same problem.
I would appreciate any assistance regarding the settings needed to save user sessions. Please let me know if you require any further information.
Hi Kumar,
I prefer that I am forced to provide a passkey/PIN to log into Google/GMail, and a little puzzled when I am not. Opposite problem to you, but you may be better off re-authenticating whenever you log in to Google. If a stranger ccould get into your GMail, he could cause you much harm, so like a bank, it should be secure.
I assume you have set up 2FA or passkey verification
When I sign in to GMail/Google on Win11, I select the passkey authentication sign-in option because it is fast and secure. EDGE doesn’t require me to log in to Google under Win11, maybe because I already authenticated in Firefox before venturing near EDGE
Passkeys on Win10 are a bit flakey so sometimes I am required to complete the 2FA on my phone
That said, I have just switched from Firefox to AVAST Secure Browser on Win11 and to my confusion, I am NOT required to select the passkey sign-in option for Google - until I do something that prompts the system to ask for my PIN.
Hope you get it working just like you want, and securely.
