Hi! I have previous installed COMODO IS, but it tired me with some bugs, and I choose Avast as my new free AV.
But during installation I get “STOP:0x000000D4 (0xA46FE210, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804E80A8)” aswSP.sys.
So, installation is not complete. Thanks to Win Restore Point, I can return to previous system, because I can’t uninstall corrupted Avast.
System: WinXPSP3. Avast 6.0.1203.0
Any ideas?
How did you remove Comodo IS ?
I don’t know if their might be some remnants after the uninstall, check their website to see if there is a manual removal/uninstall tool available. Or try this site, http://thewebatom.net/uninstallers/security-software/, which has a selection of many software application removal/uninstall tools, usually from the company.
Did you uninstall comodo and reboot before installing avast ? there maybe a removal tool on there website to get rid of any leftovers of comodo as well.
Avast removal tool is here http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear.exe which you should run in safe mode, when you are sure that you have deleted all aspects of both programs then you can reinstall avast http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_av_free.exe ( note, download avast and save before deleting your current av )
DavidR The webatom does not have a removal tool for comodo unfortunatly, they’ll have to get from comodo.
Huh" seems comodo doesn’t have an uninstall tool, there is suggestions of a mirad of tools and batch files to run, even more reason not to use comodo :

Thanks to all! I’l try cleanup my PC after COMODO, but I am afraid that is more than COMODO bug, because BSOD is result Avast setup. For example, KIS 2011 trial was installed successfully today, after Avast failure.
Avast is rather sensitive to leftovers of other av’s so the only way to know is to thoroughly clean all remnants of other av’s from your system, after deleting from remove programs you should reboot then run ccleaner for disc and registry, i would also do a search for comodo including a search through regedit.
Now that you have KIS you will need to make sure that all of that is gone as well and any other av you may have used in the past and what came preinstalled on the system when you bought it.
The webatom link provided to you earlyer will have the tools to remove most av’s on the market which should be run after a normal uninstall.
