Bug in build 17.6.3625.0

After tearing my hair out for most of the day, I’ve traced an issue I’m having back to Avast. If I uninstall Avast, all works ok. It might be related to other posts on browsers and Acrobat not working properly.

The problem I’m having is that Internet Explorer (and Acrobat DC) show blank user interface dialogs (the fonts are missing). It’s almost as though Avast for some reason is blocking the programs’ access to the resources they need.

I’ll post a screenshot when I get a moment.

No need to post a screenshot.
Do some (re)searching.
It has been explained in several other threads already.

Sorry, I did check and have just checked again.

I can see references to browsers not starting at all, or the Avast UI appearing blank. I’m talking about the Internet Explorer UI appearing blank. IE otherwise works fine (i.e. still usable, just the UI is unreadable).

I can’t see anything on that. Please can you post a link.

This appears also to fix the issue in this post (as well as the other browser issues others are experiencing):

Disable self-protection (UI → Troubleshooting), rename “snxhk.dll” to “snxhk64.dll” and “snxhk64.dll” to “snxhk.dll”, then re-enable protection.

p.s. this doesn’t appear completely to fix the issues. While the UI text appears as it normally should, there are irregularities around the way the cursor appears in web forms.
