Buying avast but have privacy question

Hi All,

I have been using the free version of avast for several years now and have decided its time to support avast with a Pro Antivirus upgrade.

HOWEVER, I am extremely cautious with my credit card info online and I will not purchase unless I can confirm that neither avast nor Nexway will store my credit card info after the transaction. Alternatively, if the data is stored, I require confirmation that I can remove this data myself via some account management function.

Can anyone with actual knowledge / experience in this regard confirm this? Thanks in advance!

It works the same as when you buy something with your credit card in a physical store.

Information stored on the card itself (this all is needed to perform a transaction):
The card holder’s name
The card’s account number
The expiration date
The card holder’s name
The Card Security Code (CSC), also called the Card Verification Value (CVV)

Information that is stored to keep track/record the purchase:
The card holder’s name
The card’s account number
The item(s) that is(are) bought (eg: avast pro, 3 years license)
Price per item
Total amount to pay
How much actually is paid (in case there are periodic payments)

Things like address, Social Security Number (SSN), CVV and such are not stored.

Hi Eddy,

Thank you for your response. Are you able to confirm the that the credit card info linked to my account profile can be removed by me (account holder) via an account management function. Obviously this would break any auto-renewal that is setup.

In short, I want to know if it works like Steam or Apple iTunes. Both these companies keep your cc information on file once you provide it to them via any transaction, but both also allow you to remove this information from their systems should you not want it to persist there. In other words, it is the account holders choice between convienience of not having to reenter this info for subsequent transactions versus the security / peace of mind that this information cannot be obtained by hackers or other unintended disclosure.

Thanks again.

I know the info can be removed.
Not sure if it can be done through my.avast.com or not.
I never use a credit card.
