CA Internet Security Suite 2010

Roadrunner is making this security suite available for free for their customers. Does anyone know anything about it.
RoRo ???

Free?
Where did you find that?

Tech,
Roadrunner is an ISP her in the US.
Comcast is giving away Synantec’s Security Suite. (I opted not to accept. )
Simply a reward for being their customer.

Wow… How to figure all of this behind roro’s post…

Hi RoRo
Simple answer.
Yes.
More complex answer… what can I say?
First, no product is without fault (not even avast! :o) - but CA is less without fault than most. ::slight_smile: (I feel embarassed for VET founder, Roger Riordan, who sold to CA all those years ago).
As well as avast! AIS, our company has a 10-seat CA Antivirus and AntiSpyware 2010 license. We’re still using the 2009 version.
Even when set to quarantine it deletes VNC files without any notification or possibility of recovery.
It looks “nice”, is minimally configurable, but the way it slows your PC and arbitrarily deletes files reminds me of… a virus!
I was a beta tester and got a free 12 month license for my (many) troubles. I have not used it.
It’s better now than the first RC but it is still not good enough.

From Cox I can get McAfee Security Suite for free on up to three computers.

I prefer avast! 5, MailWasher, OpenDNS, Opera, WinPatrol & ZoneAlarm.

PCMag.com included CA Security Suite in its The Best Security Suites for 2010 02/25/10.

Seldom see CA Antivirus in the more popular AV tests/reviews (e.g., AV-Comparatives). But the in various AV tests/reviews that did include CA Antivirus it did not fair well against the majority of the other AVs:

Personally I’ve staid away from any free security software from ISPs. At least in the past with the ISPs I was using the software was usually re-badged for the ISP and if you had any problems you had to contact the ISP for help/assistance. Other issue is ISPs will generally switch to different software vendors as to who will give the ISP the best deal.
