Can a single license file work on any operating system?

I was using a different computer running Windows Vista 32-bit SP2 when I first purchased Avast Internet Security and received my license file. That computer died and I just bought a new one that is running a different OS (Windows 7 64-bit SP1).

My license file still has a couple months left on it, was it okay to use that on my new computer with a different operating system? I sure hope so since I already did it (yikes!). I should have thought of this beforehand.

I’m not incredibly savvy on this kind of thing, so I hope this isn’t a silly question. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Yes.

Thanks for the confirmation. So it must be the download of the avast program itself that is automatically configured for whatever OS you used to download it? (Making the license file just proof that you paid for it?)

  1. You’re welcome.
  2. The installer includes the files for all supported OS.

Ah, I see. Thanks again!
