Can I automatically abort a connection?

I have a spreadsheet which is automatically visiting a number of sites. When I come across a certain site I get:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
A Trojan Horse Was Found!
File name: http://xxxxxx.cn/
Etc…

Abort connection
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The problem is I have to manually press “Abort connection” (which means I have to sit at the computer in case a virus is found. Is there any way to have this done automatically? I have the home version.

Many thanks for your help

Do you have the free version, or did you pay?

Also, I don’t think that we’re allowed (or shouldn’t) post links to bad sites. Please change http: to hxxp: in your post.

In the paid version, you can have it automatically abort the connection. It’s in “silent mode”.

Right-click your avast icon, and click “On-Access Protection Control”

Then, go through the list of providers on the left until you reach the Web Shield. Click the Customize button, then click the Advanced tab.

Check the, “Silent Mode” option.

If you have the free version, I don’t know if you can do anything about it. I’m not at home to test it.

You should modify your post as scythe994 suggests to avoid accidental exposure to malware, avast isn’t the only scanner to see this as an infected site, see image.

This option also works in the Home version.

Thanks. You’ve just saved me a tonne of hasstle.
I’ve downloaded the pro version and it does exactly what I want. Gonna buy it.

Thanks again…

There seems to be something wrong with your Avast warning message. ;D

Not trying to put you off buying the pro, far from it, but Avast Home has the ability for silent mode.

Yeah, that was my mistake. I thought it was only available with the professional edition, but I only had the pro version in front of me. It’s definitely available in the home edition, so you don’t have to buy it if you don’t want.

Totally up to you though…

For me it aborts auto and i hate that i cannot find away to stop it nor can i adjust my mail scan settings. I have read the directions about go to start,avast,mail settings and niether are there. I have tried home and pro version and am about to just delete the whole thing. I got booted in the midst of a d/l which turned out to be a flase +

No offense please, but I don’t think this has to do with the original post. I’ll try to help you anyway though.

So, you’re having a problem with your mail scanner? It’s aborting automatically from what?

I’m sort of confused as to what you’re doing, and what the problem is, so if you could please explain what operating system you have and the exact problem you’re facing, we’ll try to help out the best that we can.

I guess you need those glasses you have been putting off :stuck_out_tongue: as the relevant text refers to other scanners.

avast isn't the only scanner to see this as an infected site, see image.

Doh. :-X
Have glasses, need brain.

You can borrow mine, I don’t use it much ;D
