Can login but password fails in protected areas. Can you fix that?
Please elaborate what you mean.
What, where. when?
My login works (or says it does). However, if I try to modify anything on my free Avasti setup, it asks for my password. Then it says it is wrong. Even tried to delete Avasti but it won’t allow it for the same reason. Meanwhile it asks for my password every 3 seconds, to most of which I reply cancel and then can move on with other non-Avasti work.
- Lost, Forgotten (or didn’t set) Password and avast is calling for a password.
Ordinarily this would entail reinstalling avast, you may be able to remove a file C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\aswresp.dat. Before you can delete it you would need to disable the avast self-defence module.
If that doesn’t work you would need to boot into safe mode, where avast doesn’t start and remove it.
Thanks. Took quite a while to be able to find how to reboot in safe mode in Windows 7 but that worked to delete aswresp.dat. Have since deleted AVAST and installed a different virus checker that hopefully won’t harass me.
You’re welcome.
If you set a password it isn’t harassing you but doing what you asked protecting your avast settings from modification/deletion.
