Im very, very, angry hearing the error sound whenever I’m almost done installing Ubuntu using Wubi :((
~When downloading progress of the .iso file is ALMOST done, I’ll get an error saying “Application Denied”
It’s been two days, trying it to get into my computer, I tried it yesterday, waited for 1 hr then nothing, tried it again for the 2nd time, nothing, 3rd time, nothing!! I’ve wasted 3hrs yesterday! and now I tried it again and booom! nothing!
can you pls help me???
look, I downloaded Ubuntu 5 or 6 times yesterday to test my connection and Win7 behavior (funny but true ), forget wubi, download the regular ISO manually and make a regular dual-boot out of your system
… and if you don’t want to take the risk (ie if you’re new to Linux), create a VM (viirtual machine…see virtualbox) and install Ubuntu in it.
tnx but it finally worked!! idownloaded the iso file and the wubi installer, i placed them in the same directory and tried wubi again… then it worked perfectly!! im using it ryt now!
tnx logos! i appreciate it so much
lolz what are you doing with linux when you have windows :)?
coz it’s faster and i want to use coz it has cool effects, but im using vista for homeworks and assignment :))
Effects like?
What I don’t like too much with Ubuntu is its flash player it does play flash things well and your browser becomes slow with that
Effects? Ubuntu is popular because of it’s awesome effects!
~It has plenty of effects, like wobbly windows, cube 3d effects etc watch it on youtube…
~About your flash slow down thingy… it doesn’t happen to me… im really happy with Ubuntu as much as vista… 8)
@ ~Graven: these effects have nothing to do with Ubuntu, it’s the implementation of Compiz Fusion …works with any distro, and any desktop interface (Gnome, KDE etc…).
off topic: the part of the distro itself in a release is reduced to kernel compilation and packaging of software, Linux itself and the desktop interfaces exist before the distro and are developed by other teams.
oh ok tnx logos… but all i wanted to say is that windows doenst have the capabilities to have these effects unlike ubuntu
no true. There is “paid” software that tries to imitate Compiz, available for Windows. Anyway I’d never buy that, that’s imitation and poor imitation. Too bad as there’s in fact no reason not to have a 3D desktop run in Windows using direct3D (or OpenGl) like in Linux with OpenGl, no reason at all. It would work perfectly well. Just there are not enough developers/customers really interested.
are talking about stardock programs?? ive seen them having a paid program wilh tons of effects…
~i really dont like my vista to have those effects, i believe that if it does have these effects, it will totally makes it very laggy…
unlike ubuntu even if all the effects are enabled, it will still run smoothly with no lags! i luv it so much!!! and i havent experience any slow down and freezes… :o
Me I really like vista’s view
are talking about stardock programs??no: http://www.3dwonder.com/ ... just an example, there are others that I can't find right now, and btw Stardock makes good stuff.
@shiw liang
~I didn’t say that vista’s view is ugly, it’s really elegant and simple…
BUT
~Ubuntu is definitely faster and more responsive than vista, even though the effects are on…
~Yeah, stardock is great but it will make windows a bit laggy and unresponsive…
Tnx!
Maybe you need more Ram ;D
Maybe you need more Ram ;D
vista still slow
~ maybe windows 7, nyok nyok!
