Can Spyware Terminator and avast run together on real time protection

HI I was wondering if I could ask a question I was wondering is it ok to have spyware Terminator with Avast antivirus free. I was also wanting to now is it ok to have real time protection from Spyware terminator and Avast on real time protection together running at the same time.

Since it is meant to include an antivirus and is supposed to be real-time (which to me means resident), then no as two resident antivirus applications are likely to conflict as they load low lever drivers to intercept files to be scanned and these can be like two dogs fighting over a bone.

HI Would like to have a free maleware product on my computer with resident protection can I have free maleware protection on my computer as long as it just has the resident protection and no antivirus. Is their any maleware protection that would work with avast antivirus free.

Spyware Terminator Free has no antivirus. The integration with an antivirus (F-Prot) is for ST Premium only.

I am using Spyware Terminator Free without any conflict with Avast.

Thanks George, my quick googling only reported the integration of an AV.

Not at all, David. I started using ST few years ago when I had Avast 4.8. And since then I had no conflicts with Avast 5, 6 and 7.

I’ve run both together some years ago. But, besides some false positives, I did not find an extra protection. At that time, avast! did not have the high detection rates that we have a little later (and now).
Another “issue” was some performance degradation and the fact that ST went to toolbars and things like that.
But, after all, they’re compatible.
