Cannot Load AshOutXt.dll

Using ADNM Console I deployed a couple clients to test it out. All the clients are Windows XP SP2 in a domain (the deployment worked fine). The problem is the clients had avast! standalone running on each, now everytime they go into outlook it says it can’t find the previous version of AshOutXt.dll in Program Files\Avast4\

It is loading the new version also, its almost like it uninstalled avast4 standalone without removing the plugin the Help>Detect and Repair doesn’t work in Outlook any ideas?

Yes, that should do the trick.

ashOutXt.dll belongs to Avast Pro which was probably installed prior to the NetClient.

None of the systems have a extend.dat they are all running Outlook 2003 (forgot to mention that).

Sort of a fix, but it requires time at every deployed desktop:

Tools > Options > Other > Advanced > Add-Ins

Disable Both Avast

Exit Outlook

Return to outlook

Tools > Options > Other > Advanced > Add-Ins

Re-Enable Avast(now only the installed one shows up)

Note: Sometimes (1 instance so far) this doesn’t work and the old one will still be there, enable one at a time click OK when you see avast load your good.

The extend.dat file is in a hidden folder, so if you’re Explorer to do the search, you need to explicitly enable searching of hidden/system files…
