Cannot restart notebook

I cannot restart or shut down notebook. The avast have been loading CPU on 75-100% for several hours. Can not open avast user interface. The combination ctrl alt del does not work. Can not kill avast process in task manager. But the notebook is still working well apart from the fact I can not restart it. Any idea what can be done?

  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…? I have used avast on this pc for 2 or 3 years, no ther av software
    Have you try repair option? - Repart what? re-install Windows?

No try this steps:Repair Avast:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.
    What is your Avast! version?

Thank you for your advice, I did as suggested. The repairing was sucessfull as program reported. No result. Still cannot open avast interface, can not restart pc.

Well, I did a force shut down by pressing power button for several seconds and after that turned on the notebook and everything is ok now.
