Cannot select an action or click 'Apply'

I’ve just bought Avast Internet Security and ran a Quick Scan. In the results I get the message “Some files cannot be scanned” and when I open 'Detailed Report" there is a fairly lengthy list of files, each with the Status “Error: Archive is password protected (42056)”. I’m prompted to "Select the required action for each result and click “Apply” but there are no actions to select and no Apply button to click. (There is an additional colum in the results screen, but however wide I expand it, it has no heading and no content within the column. Can anyone help?

They can be ignored, as being password protected Avast cannot see inside. However, when they are accessed then Avast will scan them

Thanks for your quick response, that’s reassuring. However, can I take it there’s no glitch with my Avast, and if/when there’s a file where I do need to take action, I’ll have the Action and Apply options? (Seems to me it would be clearer for files like this to have a message saying ‘No action necessary’ rather than ‘Select an action and click apply’ if that isn’t actually possible - it’s very confusing for technophobes like me!). Thanks again.

There is no glitch. If and when avast detects a “real and viable” threat then the “apply”
button can be used. Password protected files in and of themselves pose no danger, they are inert.

If avast does detect an infection this may help you and your decision…
