Hi Guys,
I installed Avast Free and can’t connect with my FXCM Trading Station anymore. Even after uninstalling Avast the problem persists.
Which settings could Avast have changed?

What os/sp?
Do you (or did you) have another av installed?
If so, which one?
Do you (or did you) have other security software installed?
If so, which one(s)?
Are you using the online trading platform or their software?
What is the error you are getting?
Hi,
OS = Win7 Ultimate SP2
Other AV = Avira Antivirus (is installed and was installed before did not cause any problems with the Trading Station)
No other security software installed.
I’m using the software not the web client.
The error message says can’t connect to the server check your settings …

What browser are you using when you connect ?
Whilst these types of trading site may not strictly follow http protocol, but the web shield proxy is expecting http protocol. If you aren’t using a browser, but the sites software, if it is using http ports, etc. the web shield will try to redirect the traffic through its proxy.
You could try:
If that doesn’t work.
2. avastUI > Settings > Active Protection - Web Shield, click the sprocket icon (settings) - Main Settings and check the ‘Scan traffic from well-known browser processes only.’
Hi thx,
this solved the problem.

You’re welcome.
I suspect it was option 2, that resolved it ?
