I got a virus on my windows xp laptop. I downloaded avast! and it scanned my computer and found the virus. I made a mistake and hit “delete all” instead of “move to chest” and im pretty sure i deleted some files important for connecting to the internet. Im pretty sure its not because of the virus because i could connect to the internet before i scanned. All my other computers work. How can i fix this? I connect to the internet wirelessly by the way. Iv tried system restore but i keep getting error messages.
Do you know what the file was that you deleted ?
Try running
sfc /scannow
by a command line.

To open up the run command window simply depress the “Windows” key and the “R” key. 
I replaced the ethernet adapter card and all is well. Thanks, again to everyone for their assistance.
