Can't delete, rename or move any file after installation

Windows XP SP3.

No avast installed but did have an older version which had been uninstalled previously. All working fine.

Install full version Avast Internet Security (7.0.10 something). After the install and reboot, system seems to work fine except I can no longer delete, rename or move any file or folder. I can modify and copy files and folders just fine. I upgraded to version 7.0.1426 and problem remains

The error I get is “access id denied, Make sure disk is not full or write-protected and that file is not currently in use”. I know none of these conditions exist.

I have simple file sharing set as it always has been. I have tried changing that and get permissions, but I am shown as the owner already and have administration rights.

I tried creating a new user account and have the same probelms with that account.

Any suggestions?

ooh i’ve had this issue on my XP lappy for a couple of weeks and had no idea it was or could be avast.

With the fix in the other post i can get rid of the Unlocker assistant i was using :slight_smile:
