can't install vpsupd

Hi,
i’ve got the latest avst home edition, and because i’m not connected to internet, i’ve tried to update the virus def by using vpsupd; but it didn’t sucess and got every time the same error like SI 0x00000001 …
I did a new installation of avast but still got the same error.
Any help?
thx

Was the new installation the latest version 4.7.942 (if not it needs to be) ?

What is the operating system on that computer ?

Hi,
Yes, i’ve got the latest version of avast and installed on XP.

If you do a forum search for that error you will no doubt find others.

Some that have had this problem were using win98 (not XP) and after a program update they were getting similar problems and they effectively needed to reinstall. Whilst they weren’t using off-line system updating that worked so it may be worth trying.

It may be quicker to reinstall, uninstall, reboot, install, reboot.

It would probably be best to download the latest version of avast and save it to your HDD or USB drive, transfer that to the off-line system. Use that when you reinstall.
