First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.
I use Avast Antivirus Free and not Avast One so I can’t speak from personal experience.
I think that there may be a common factor as both of those browsers are Chromium based browsers.
That said, given the number of people using Microsoft Edge I would expect to have seen more posts in regard to this. Also the Avast Secure Browser is Chromium based browser.
What error messages are you getting when the Web page doesn’t load ?
Have you any security based add-ons installed on these browsers ?
Try disabling the add-ons and see if it makes a difference.
I tried disabling all extensions, but the problem still persists. This is the error message I get with Brave from sites, all the same. Only YT has a different error message, thinks I’m not connected to the internet.
This site can’t be reached
community.avast. com’s DNS address could not be found. Diagnosing the problem.
DNS_PROBE_POSSIBLE
This is the error message I get with Edge:
Hmmm… can’t reach this page
www.google. com’s DNS address could not be found… diagnosing the problem now.
DNS_PROBE_STARTED
I found the problem at last. I have Goodbye DPI, a program which allows access to blocked sites. I either use this program, or I enter blocked sites with VPN. Now I need to decide which one to use: Goodbye DPI with another antivirus, or Avast with VPN. I wonder Goodbye DPI would have problem with other Antiviruses too.
I would suggest goodbye DPI given its nature, it is interfering with the ability for Avast (and possibly other security programs), to effectively pre-check the site URL before harm can be done. Any other antivirus with such protection I would suggest could also have this interaction/conflict.
Uninstalled Avast and installed Bitdefender Free. Same problem exists as long as Goodbye DPI is activated. I didn’t like Bitdefender very much either. I will install Avast One and use it VPN. Thanks for the help
