Can't Register

Hi;
I’ve been a free Avast user for many years, always updating the registration key. Somehow in the last month, I’ve been running a free trial of Avast Pro (not sure how that happened),…and it has expired. I’ve received a new license key,…but I have no place to insert it. I click on Maintenance,…but the only option is “Subscription” as opposed to “Registration”. What do I do? Thanks

ps…I downloaded a copy of Free Avast,…just in case I need to do that,…but when I click on it to install it says “Error 20000008 - Not enough user rights”

first uninstall avast PRO….from safe mode http://www.avast.com/en-no/uninstall-utility

then install free again and register http://www.avast.com/en-no/download-software

read the instructions on website…
it has to do with avast self protection…

Okay,…I uninstalled the program,…and it appears to be gone,…but when I try to install the free avast,…it still says “Error 20000008 - Not enough user rights”. So what now?

do you have any other security programs installed?

Only Comodo firewall.
