Can't scan - decompression bomb

I just ran a scan with Avast and upon completion, the “Results of Scan” listed a bunch of Avast files that it was “unable to scan”, which I don’t understand, but it doesn’t bother me. What does bother me was one file that said it was “unable to scan: the file is a decompression bomb”. :-[

Can someone tell me what a “decompression bomb” is and should it be a cause for concern? If so what should I do about it??

Thanks in advance for your advice!!

Big John

Google is your friend. Maybe this will help you:

decompression bombs are some files with false extension: seems like little files, few kbs, but - when are opened - causes a chain of reactions that overload the system resources until the pc crashes down.

Use the “search” button here on the forums. You’ll find tons of infos.

Here’s one thread about it : http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=8943.0
