Cant set automated scan

cant set automated scan to daily, it resets to monthly after closing the settings window.

Personally I wouldn’t bother with on-demand scans, Smart or otherwise.

  • With a resident (on-access) scanner the need for on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part dormant/inert files are being scanned, the other active files are going to be scanned by the resident shields when they are activated.

The Smart Scan will also be looking for weaknesses in your system - which no doubt will have a suggestion for a program than can deal with that.

I have been using Avast Free for over 20 years and that suits my requirements. As my penance I started helping on the old Avast forum and have been doing so for close to the same time frame.

Same issue here. Tried setting it to daily, but it keeps going back to monthly. Might be a glitch in the latest update.

Some people like on demand and scheduled scans regardless of how you personally feel about them.

Yes, each to there own, I’m just giving options and reasons, they can make up their own mind.

That is very old school when AVs were pretty much on-demand only.

Ok but you understand that you chiming in with this opinion doesn’t really do anything or add anything to the discussion, right? Whether you or anyone else doesn’t use scheduled or on demand scans is completely irrelevant. The issue here is that a feature that Avast offers isn’t working properly for some users, so I’m not sure what you think you’re contributing when you say “I don’t use that feature that Avast offers that isn’t working or is having some issues.” It’d be one thing if you did it once as an FYI, but you do it over and over and over. Nobody cares.

I don’t use Avast’s firewall. I don’t have it installed. But you don’t see me going into every thread made about the firewall saying “Uh well, I don’t use the firewall, and it’s not necessary because Windows’s firewall and the firewall on my router is sufficient.”

  1. The user/s aren’t asking about a Firewall issue, so you wouldn’t mention it.
  2. These users are having an issue with the Smart Scan auto running.
  3. All I’m pointing out it isn’t crucial, the choice is up to them.

Avast 25.4.xxx has just been released, so if they haven’t got it yet it would be worth checking if this bug/issue is fixed.

They have already made the choice to use it. They want to use it. So if they want to use it, they’re going to post about it not working as intended. You saying “Hey, you don’t need to use it because I personally don’t use it” is a waste of everyone’s time.
