Can't Start Windows in Normal Mode, freezes while loading.

When I try to start my computer normally it some what starts up but freezes before i can do anything. I can successfully run stuff through safe mode but that is limited. I ran OTL and will provide the logs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

And why are you asking here for help if you have McAcrap installed?

Well it’s not my computer but a friends he isn’t as computer savvy and this was something I knew could help sorry if I misunderstood.

Don’t worry.
We will try to help.
I was just curious about why asking on the avast webboard if McAcrap is installed and not avast.

Is he running Windows 8 or Windows server 2012?
In either case, why hasn’t he updated his system ?

In the OTL log I don’t see anything strange.
When booting (or trying to) in normal mode, the system just hangs or is there a error message?
Any beep(s) when booting the system?
Any errors/problems shortly before this started?
What OS/SP did the system came with originally?

He has always had windows 8 on the machine. There are no beeps that I can hear. What exactly happens is he gets to the desktop then the cursor has the spinning circle on it like it is loading something and then all of a sudden it freezes but I did get it to unfreeze by doing ctrl+alt+delete. I am now updating the system I think this will work. It is taking awhile.

Ok, keep us informed please.

Lets check a few errors first

Open the Start Menu and type Services into the Search programs and files, you will get a few options.
Right click on the option with gears as the icon and Run as administrator.

Right click the following services.
Server service
Computer Browser service

Click Properties.
Go to the Dependencies tab, and in the first box, a list of services that service depends on will be given.
Write down the services that need to start for dependencies to be resolved.
Make sure these services are all set to start automatically by
right clicking those services,
clicking properties,
going to the General tab,
and making the Startup type is Automatic.

Then try a normal boot

Yeah everything seems to be working fine now. Thanks a lot guys.

What did you do to resolve the problem ?

Updating windows seems to do the trick he had quite a few updates missing. He has told me he hasn’t had any more issues.

Ta for the update
