I opted for the free trial of Pro but decided I didn’t like it. I then selected the “continue with free version” but it seems like I still have the browser sandbox feature installed. (I have the yellow ring around any browser screen).
So I try to uninstall Avast thru the Control Panel>add/remove programs>etc the program starts to uninstall but hangs once it gets to Web Shield.
I can’t download music from Amazon, I can’t dload Fire3fox updates…the Sandbox or whatever won’t let me.
Thank you. Right after I made the original post I did find the uninstall utility in another thread and deleted the program successfully. In yet another thread, one Avast “tech helper” on this forum said to go thru the “Control Panel” method but it did not work.
Please understand that I am trying to lend constructive criticism. I’ve been using the FREE version for years and loved it and the Avast support forums. When I finally decided to try the Pro trial with the full intent to purchase it, the problems with the Pro version have soured me a bit on Avast. I will spend the USA$$ to protect our home computers…but IMO the product (Pro) needs to work in the background as well as the Free version does.
I don’t know if this is possible but it’s what I will spend my USA$$ on.
Will be watching for the newest version after .1456 and will reinstall Avast at that time. For now I’m using another brands Free product but I’d like my Avast back!
