Can't uninstall Avast!

Hi,

I’ve got a problem: Since I’m using Norton Internet Security which is not compatible with Avast, I would like to uninstall Avast. But when I go to settings/system control/software and try to uninstall Avast, nothing happens.
I think maybe it’s because the program is open. Avast starts automatically when I start my computer, and I can’t find a way to close it.

Sorry if this question sounds stupid, but I really need help!

Thanks in advance

No. avast should be uninstalled correctly even when it’s running.
The problem is that you have Norton running, so avast installation is very, very compromised.

  1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first (test again) and boot.
  2. Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation.
  3. Boot.

Might it help to turn protection of one or both AV’s off in the system tray first? ie exit the programs? (disconnect from the net first!)

I think disable is not enough… you can try in order to uninstall, really, we can’t go further helping if the situation is a conflict between two installed antivirus ::slight_smile:
