I purchased your licence and it causes my PC with a Windows 7 64bit OS to CRASH! That SUCKS and if AVAST can not help me, I demand a refund!
Do you have any other antivirus installed?
How did you uninstall it?
Any other security program that could interfere?
No other anti-virus, i got no other security program.
Please, upload (attach) the avast log:
C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log\Setup.log
or C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\Setup\setup.log
If the file is too big for the forum, post the last 400-500 lines of it.
Which version…??
I suggest re-downloading the latest version of the Avast edition you purchased and running it. After the installation finishes, please reboot immediately.
@Asyn, I used ver 6.0.1289
@Tech, see attached
Where and what is the latest version? I just bought this on your website, isn’t the link at the final purchase process suppose to be the latest version?
Ok, that’s the latest.
Please try this:
Repair avast:
- Control Panel - Add/Remove programs - avast!
- Scroll down and click on ‘Repair’.
- Follow instructions.
@Asyn, I’ve been on to this for 4.5 hours now and I tried what you just mentioned a few hours ago. Some how there’s something wrong with the freaking firewall + and then the current version seemed to conflict with Windows 7 as it BLUESCREEN’s when I reboot.
Which firewall did you use before…??
Which AV did you use before…??
I hate fixing stuff in terms of license user =(
License AV should be running smoothly without trouble shooting.
No idea what you’re talking about neither how this would help here…?? :
I totally agree with you. I feel tricked by this fucking product. I’m so pissed right now!
- Windows 7 has its own built in firewall, which I turned off!
- I used McAfee before Avast which was working fine in the trial mode until I was tricked into buying the full “fucking” license.
;D
Im just telling my side that a paid user must have no problems installing it.
It makes frustration at his side buying a license AV just a moment ago then BSOD. :-\
If a bluescreen occurs, a minidump file should be created in C:\Windows\Minidump folder. Please upload that file to ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming, that should contain more information about what happened.
Also, this is a public forum, so I’d kindly ask you to refrain from offensive language - that won’t be tolerated here.
Thanks.

Use their uninstall tool.

Maybe also a clean reinstall of avast will be required.
Hi,
As ASYN said ,Make sure that you have removed MCAFEE completely from the computer. You can use the removal tool of McAfee from the following link.
http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe
Once you remove McAfee you need to reboot the machine.
Then download the latest version of avast and reinstall it again. This time the issue will be fixed.
Hope you are happy with avast! Have a wonderful day Good k@rma!
I Downloaded directly from my paid avast account. This file setup_ais.exe is causing my system to crash!
I placed this: q5_mike_at_yahoo_dot_com_MEMORY.DMP on your FTP incoming folder.

Did you run the uninstaller for McAfee yet…??
You can get the latest installer for AIS here: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_ais.exe
