I would like to install avast4 Home on a friends computer. I speak and read some Portuguese, but he is fluent in both. I don’t really have the confidence to install the Portuguese from the get go because I want to make sure that the installation is correct. I’ve had avast on a couple of computers of my own in the past and am aware of the language choice that is made in the initial install.
So, my question is, is it possible to install avast4 Home in English and then, once completely installed, change the language to Portuguese?
Yes, fully possible.
You can go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast > Change/Remove
On the windows that popups, choose Change.
Select the languages that you want.
After that, on the Languages settings you can choose English/Portuguese.
Hi Vale2,
Yes, it should be fairly easy to do so:
You can choose to install both languages during the install (i think)
If you have already installed it:
Right click avast! tray icon → program settings → language tab → click ‘To install additional languages, click here’
You will then be prompted to ‘change’ the installation, (second image) → scroll down to portuguese and then click the relevant boxes with a red cross in it → it will change to a tick–> click next.
The language will then be listed in the languages section of the settings (similar to my image)

edit: Oops, Tech posted also…well either way works…
Thanks for the screenshots Scott. I’m with avast 5 beta.
By the way, it’s easier with version 5 to change the language on-the-fly.
No problem Tech
Excellent! My thanks to both Scott and Tech. I followed your instructions Scott on my computer install of avast and found the Language settings. This will make things much, much easier for me. Being able to install in English, I will be absolutely confident of a proper install. Then I can change it to Brazilian Portuguese for my friend and he will be good to go on his own! I will be installing avast4Home this week end.
Thanks again guys.
You’re welcome. You’ll find avast 5 even easier with localizations.
Is this still Beta? because when I Googled avast 5, the closest I came to was version 4.8.1356.
Yes, it is still beta. You need to wait some weeks.
