I see lots of you have ways of checking websites are safe with website scanning tools that tell you if the site contains anything malicious, where do you find these please?
By the use of google if there is no link where you found out about these tools. Search for the tool name of those that you have seen.
e.g. DrWeb Link Scanner, http://www.google.com/search?q=DrWeb+Link+Scanner.
http://www.drweb-online.com/en/browser_plugin.asp?rpid=
Other tools to check search results are Finjan, McAfee SiteAdvisor and Scandoo.
Thanks for the information DavidR and Tech.
Will be trying the information in the links you provided.
Your welcome.
Web Shield does that on-the-fly…
But WebShield (as a part of avast) is not perfect… avast detection is not as huge and fast as the user must want or need.
Besides this, is always good to have a second opinion 8)
Very true Tech. I love the WebShield…am glad avast! has it. I would just like to try the link checking that everyone here is always talking about. I like Dr.Web that David R suggested.
Haven’t tried the others that you mentioned Tech…but I will…and soon! ;D
I like DrWeb link checker because you only check the links that you want to before a visit. I couldn’t get on with the likes of SiteAdvisor because they were active and always scanning links even if I didn’t visit them and on a dial-up connection it slowed browsing (that is already slow).

I like that factor of DrWeb link checker as well. I have broadband and dial-up as well DavidR. When you are able to get broadband…you will really appreciate it. I love my dial-up connection…I really do. It does what I need it to do when I use it.
I kinda move along the web in slo-mo sometimes…so it fits my mood when I use it. ;D
When I need broadband…I use it and trust me…since I use them both…I know what you’re going through. Here’s to hoping you’ll be able to get broadband where you live…eventually. Dial-up will be around me thinks for a while longer yet for those like me that like to use it or simply have no other means to get on the internet.
