Child protection features in Internet security.

Sorry to get back to this, I noticed there’s been already a discussion on child protection…
However, opendns is a nice feature but it doesn’t seem to allow the level of customisation that would, for instance, allow you to prevent your kid from accessing facebook.
In the mean time, the competitors seem to offer a good level of customisation in their suites (mcafee, bitdefender) .
I am generally happy with avast internet security suite, that’s why I bought the licence for 3rd year, but I feel a bit let down by the lack of development in this direction and by the fact that you seem to ignore the increasing demand for child protection. Please tell me you would reconsider…

Thank you and regards,
Mircea

Thanks. Parental control is an old wish… Maybe the developers reconsider it.
Until there, you can block the access to specific sites into avast! Internet Security. There is a tab of settings for that (URL blocking).

yes you can.....in the dashboard you can add URLs to block

see OpenDNS FAQ

Microsoft offers Family Safety:

@Pondus, thank you for your answer, but adding FB to filter would kill it for the whole network and that’s not in scope:

"OpenDNS does not currently have filtering on a per-user basis or schedule based filtering available through the OpenDNS Dashboard at this time. "

I would give a try to the family safety from Windows live…

If you’re open to suggestions, I’ll give one (free): www.k9webprotection.com

that is true… if you have one of those new two band routers…
ithen your kids are on 2.4Ghz and parents are on 5Ghz you can add URLs to block in the router firewall on 2.4Ghz band

I have to second this. I’ve been using K9 Web Protection with Avast Free on multiple PCs, and that combination works very nicely.

you are very well protected because it offers an internet filter
to block unwanted and phishing site among others.

the old version was only compatible with windows xp.eu remember
a software called netpurum paid but did not work at the time the company was still in crisis, leaving just the avast
your project.

This has nothing to do with the topic of this thread :“Child protection”
