I cannot update the Chrome browser on my Toshiba laptop; working on WYFI behind a D link DIR-655. I get a message update server not available each time I attempt to update Chrome on the laptop. My Dell PC wired to the D link updates Chrome; no problem. The Avast firewall application rules on both computers are:
Application
Google Inc.
Google Chrome
All connections
Allow connection to all networks.
The Avast program on both computers is 6.0.1289
Any assistance in resolving this problem will be appreciated.

We dont think that its an issue with avast!, since the avast configuration is same on both the computers. So please note down the error message that you get while trying to update Chrome and you can try the following link for the fix.

If you disable avast firewall, can you update?
I disabled Avast firewall and update completed with no problems. Don’t know what the problem is but I now have the update and restarted Avast firewall.

For the next time, try deleting the firewall rules (for Chrome) and creating them again. This usually solves this type of problems (but not always).
Solving the problem is better than the workaround, so you won’t need to stop your firewall from protecting your system.
