Despite its popularity, ads promoting Clean Master manipulate Android users with deceptive tactics when browsing websites within the app’s advertising framework.
Ferenc László Nagy of SophosLabs Hungary has captured some pop-up ads that lead to Clean Master, warning you that your device has been infected with a virus.
...
Only if you press “OK” the ad redirects you to the download of the Clean Master app, and does not “remove” the (fake) virus as the ad claims.
I can imagine they do the same with the Windows application.
Cleaning = removing things.
When doing so, there is always a change that something goes wrong.
There is no cleanup tool in the world that can do something that you can’t do already manually.
With relevant knowledge you can even do a better job then any cleanup tool does.
You may be right Eddy but, how long will that take ???
Ccleaner does an excellent job, has never given me a problem and the few items it may not touch, really don’t bother me.
After all, we no longer have 8 Meg HD’s.
I think that the beauty of CCleaner is that it doesn’t seem to go to great depths in its cleaning, both Hard Disk or Registry. Reducing the possibility of doing any harm rather than cleaning.
But when cleaning the registry you should always do a backup of any changes made.
Safest move is to NOT clean the registry. Space saved and speed improvement realized by cleaning the registry are
only noticeable when using sophisticated tool. No real life speedups will be noticed.
Speed improvements aren’t the reason you would clean your registry, it’s purely for de-clustering the registry of leftover rubbish which can cause re-install issues with some programs - AV’s etc
You’re talking about targeted cleansing which is totally different than using tools like Ccleaner to clean the registry which can lead to systems not restarting.
Usually I’ll go into the registry after CCleaner has done it’s bit and manually remove everything that it fails to clean, CCleaner barely scrapes the surface.
No kidding, I’m not telling people to go into the registry, I’m simply saying that CCleaner doesn’t go deep enough to cause any harm and is safe enough to clean the registry with but you should still use CCleaners option to backup the registry first before doing so.
