Cleanup

I hate that Avast does this.
I have a paid-for subscription to Avast Internet Security & it seems to work fine; stopping threats ahead of time, checking for viruses, malware & any other bad situations.
What I hate is when I scan my PC, some bad situations come up, I click the “View Report” button, I see issues, click the “Optimize My PC” button & then (as seen in the attachment) asked to pay more for what should be included. I don’t even get any idea of what to look for so I can track it down on my own.
I think this will be my last year being an Avast subscriber.

Avast cleanup is a additional program >>> https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB211#artTitle

And yes it is annoying, but it seems that is what the avast marketing want :stuck_out_tongue:

For us to be annoyed enough to stop using their product?
Not a smart move Avast.

This is a little contradictory, “Cleanup is included in Avast 2016. Simply upgrade your current installation of Avast Antivirus. Scanning to see if your system needs a cleanup is free, but performing a system cleanup requires a paid activation code.”

I thought when something is INCLUDED, it comes free w/the paid item.

Use CCleaner, it is free http://www.piriform.com

Unfortunately the cleanup comes with all versions (unless you do a custom install), it is effectively a hook, show what it can do and perhaps some will purchase.

I never run the Security Report (Button at the bottom of that screenshot) as it isn’t going to be telling me anything more than I already know and again it is more of a hook.

I would recommend doing a custom install and installing only the components that you need/want.

Or you can use this option and remove if listed >>> https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB96#artTitle

I do use CCleaner now & then, but it doesn’t always clean everything I tell it to.
I’ll have to check my settings again.

I’ll take another look at customizing my Avast installation. I’m pretty sure I excluded things I did not want (I try to be diligent about that), but I could have missed something/something I do not want was installed anyway when I did a Program Update.

Once you have done a custom scan, the next program update should honour your installed components (and only update those) and settings.

Of course if there are any new components added in the future they would be installed unless you continued with custom installs.
