hi! i can’t find a way to clear the webshield scan log…
(Avast > real-time shield > Webshield > scanning log)
is there no way to clean it so it will get empty??? i have tried going to settings, maintenance
and change the clear logs from 30 days to 1 day…
but it is still there…
If you are wondering why i want to clear the log is because sometimes i get pop ups that has sexual contents and i dont want other people using the computer to missunderstand…
Ok, your reasoning is kind of out there. How do you think deleting the webshield log is going to help with any kind of pop-up, it wont.
Unwanted pop-ups that are not connected to anything you have installed are a near certain sign your machine is infected, I would worry about that before the logs.
no lol, trust me i have no viruses… sometimes i klick on weird links on facebook that other people have klicked and i get pop ups, it’s not that i get the pop ups when i surf on youtube lol…
Clearly this person is not asking for help stopping the pop-ups. They want to know how to clear the web shield log so others that may see the log won’t think “ill” of them.
Does anybody know how to clear the web shield log?
Well regardless of what was asked, it was asked for almost two years ago and much has changed in avast in two years, so responding to it isn’t a good idea after two years. Not to mention the OP hasn’t been active in the forums for just over a year.
It would possibly have been better to create a new topic of your own.
It rather depends on what log or view you are talking about:
The text file C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Avast\report\WebShield.txt (XP location) or C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\report\WebShield.txt (Vista and later).
This could be edited (notepad.exe run as administrator) or deleted, but you would bump into the avast self-defence module and have to disable that.
The Shield log button in the Web Shield interface, this I don’t know how/where that data is stored since it also can be used to show traffic history, but this traffic history is graphical in nature and not detailed.
