coming lost customers

This is part of a exchange on another message board. It’s not Avast/AVG centric, but the topic keeps cropping up.

ME: I’ve noticed that I’ve had to turn off the email scanning once or twice lately. ((Referring to the “this email scanned by…” notice))

OTHER: I’ve heard multiple reports about Avast doing e-mail scanning even after it has been turned off, and in one case after that piece was supposedly uninstalled. That’s not good. Avast has always done a good job of scanning for malicious stuff, but if their programs won’t behave themselves, people are going to end up switching to something else. I may soon reach the point where I no longer recommend Avast or the current version of AVG, which would kind of sadden me because they’ve both been high on my list of recommended security software for a long time.

ME: Probably a result of this. Something I find even more annoying is that Avast has become “nagware.” Even though I’m a paid subscriber – not using the free version – I nagged to upgrade to Super Duper Double Platinum Diamond, special limited time offer only 30 Lira instead of…

OTHER: Avast seems to have gotten really aggressive about advertising. I wonder if they understand that people who pay for a product don’t want to be bothered by pop-up ads? They may end up chasing their customers away rather than gaining new ones.

Easy enough to fix:
