Coming soon Firefox will prevent plugin crashes from crashing your browser

Hi malware fighters,

This came in the Firefox Lorentz version: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/lorentz/
and will be soon implemented in the general versions,

polonus

I knew about that, I think I tried one build a little while ago and gave a link in the general topics somewhere. Okay, this is all very nice, but what we need in Firefox now is speed…Chrome isn’t just getting more and more market share, it’s also getting faster and faster…agreed about the security issues in Chrome with javascript and ad servers…but: they need to move their ass a bit faster at Mozilla people won’t wait indefinitely. I’ve tried off and on the latest minefield builds and they’re not really faster than 3.6…that’s not good, even Opera is damned fast now.
Sorry to hijack this thread a bit Polonus but I’m losing patience with Mozilla sometimes. I do run both browsers…still now…, with Chrome now set as my default browser…there are already days where I don’t use Firefox at all…I know, I said that I was done with Chrome a while ago :-X but I came back to it…

adding: as you may know, Chrome 5.0 integrates flash player 10.1. But it’s not just that, they plan to integrate the plugin process completely in the “sandbox”, understand Google Chrome sandboxed as it runs currently on Windows based PCs

Since I lost the taste for Firefox, now I am with Chrome. The latter protects better, I have ascertained that blocks more malicious pages than Firefox. Faster and more secure than Firefox. For me, the only advantage Firefox have against Chrome, is the amount of available Add-ins, and few incompatability with some sites.

1 first security issue in Chrome is that you can’t block javascript selectively, it’s everything or nothing

2 second security issues in Chrome is that you can’t block ad servers with the available ad blocking extensions, you just hide the ads.

3 malicious pages blocked in Chrome are the same as those in Firefox, as Mozilla uses Google database tools when you get the messages about non-safe sites.

4 CPU load is still too high in Chrome when watching videos (flash or else) >>> I’m still switching back to Firefox to watch some TV shows.

But globally, I use Chrome more than I use Firefox now, for the reasons I gave above (in my first post in this thread).

I currently use Firefox about as often as IE8 which isn’t very often at all.
Chrome has been my default browser for the past 3-4 month and it just keeps getting better and better.

And collects more and more user data on it’s way…
IMO, even the fastest browser won’t compensate the lack of security and privacy…!!
asyn

just concerning privacy:
what’s leaking (to Google) exactly, through the tracking of your browsing, and the identification of your sessions? your IP? yes >>> do you think they’ll bother to call your ISP to get your name, address and telephone number? NO. And even if they did, would they get the info? no  in France a judge must order such an investigation

now to security: there’s an issue with javascript obviously, as said it’s all or nothing. There are rumors that the API is being worked on to allow extensions to be more powerfull in Chrome…( for both js and ad servers blocking) but just rumors so far…time will tell.

If you want privacy in Chrome, just do the following:
Create an new shortcut for Chrome on your desktop but use the following command in the
target command line:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe --incognito (For Windows 7)
Substitute your own username.

Anytime you want to open Chrome incognito (Private) use the new shortcut.

  1. So you think google isn’t collecting any user data…?? ::slight_smile:
  2. The JS issue is bad enough, not talking about the add thingy… Btw, they would never fully allow to block adds, as this is their main business…!!! But let’s see, as you wrote, time will tell…

Will it be only plugins or also addons?

just plugins

I said just the contrary Asyn, read again ::slight_smile: …what I said is that it doesn’t really, really matter, because …AGAIN…all they get associated with your browsing habits is your IP, and your ISP won’t tell them who you are unless a judge orders it ;D

Pity…

I don’t care about google at all, as I don’t use any of their programs and am blocking all web related nosy google stuff. Always.!!! I’m not worried about my IP.

Asyn, answer to the argument, don’t tell me that you don’t use Google products, it doesn’t really matter in the context on this topic. What matters is your interpretation of Google’s use of private data

Just read the links…!!
