There is an option in my archiver to check files in archives for viruses, so I want to use Avast Home to do the checking (though I’m not sure if it is really necessary). The archiver suggests to put down (if necessary) command-line parameters for the antivirus programme.
That’s the question: Are there any command-line parameters to check files in archives with Avast Home?
When I start checking files inside archives (using my archiver’s option) without parameters, the “Avast-starts” screen appeares. It checks processes in the memory, waits for a pair of seconds, then it checks the files and turns off. The archiver itself shows the results: “No viruses are detected”.
Other antivirus programmes in such cases usually don’t check the processes in the memory (or don’t show any screens on start-up). They behave so when are used with parameters.
Can Avast Home check files inside archives in so called “silent” mode (without checking processes in the memory)?
As Tech said use the ashQuick.exe, this is the most thorough of the scans, it scan archives and it does that without requiring parameters. You enter the string Tech gave in your archiver (which is ?) C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe.
I really don’t understand this comment.
It checks processes in the memory, waits for a pair of seconds, then it checks the files and turns off. The archiver itself shows the results: "No viruses are detected".
If you use the ashQuick.exe it ‘doesn’t’ scan the processes in memory. I can only assume that you are using the on-demand scanner of the Simple User Interface (SUI) if memory is scanned first before launching the SUI ?
So if you can explain in detail what it is you are doing exactly, because I just can grasp what it is you are doing to say processes in memory are scanned first ?
