just wanted to check what u think abouth these versions…my pesronal opinion?i went back to 2.4 coz it works better in my pc…and its more user friendly… 8)
I tried V3 with defence+ enabled.Nearly a week after installation,I was still getting lots of pop up alerts.I recently installed Snagit ( courtesy of bob ).Expecting a lot of alerts, I began counting the number of times I had to click allow. The final toll was 83 :o Now I know very little about firewalls, and maybe my experience is unique,so I uninstalled V3.I then reinstalled, but this time chose the ‘basic’ V3 option ( defence + disabled). Now I am happy,I get hardly any alerts, even fewer than when I had V2,strangely.I still have V2 on my other computer, and will upgrade in the future, but I certainly won’t be choosing the advanced option.
Version 2 does not work on Vista.
I miss on version 3 the ‘parental’ application control that we have easily on version 2. But security was improved (like killing the firewall processes, etc.).
Can defense+ be disabled without reinstalling?
Anyway I’ll wait a while before upgrading, I’ve seen lots of problems on the Comodo forum with V3, which I dont need. V2.x had settled down nicely and sits there quietly without any problems on my PC.
Avast is the only security software I’ve had on my PC for 4yrs+. I haven’t had any problems for a long time. Any problems before were so minor they were irrelevant in comparison to the BSODS and problems that I had with Comodo and other software. Comodo will be great, I’m patient and respect their hard work.
However Avast will always stay on my PC, I trust it and its unrivalled support 1000%, nothing else comes close to it.
Yes, if you click on defense+ > advanced > defense + settings > tick box Deactivate the defense + permanently.
Under Defense+/Advanced/Defense+ settings/General, see the last item. Just tick that “Disable …” and reboot. Don’t worry about the “permanently” part of that, if you want Defense+ back just go to the same place, un-tick that box and reboot again. In both cases you’ll be prompted to reboot anyway.
As for the poll, I didn’t bother voting since the answer’s almost a tossup to me. It looks like it’s got a lot better protection than 2.4, but it also seems a lot less user-friendly.
I was just going to say there is a lot of fear abou Comodo, with no reason… If you have too much alerts and you know a program like AVAST is “SECURE” and can be “TRUSTED” you can check on the alert window it as a trusted program and you should never get annoyed again. But I am myself experiencing some problems with my Comodo 3 Firewall final edition. The icon in the tray disapeared (it’s going to reappear after reboot) and I can’t open the console from the desktop or else. Go figure out if I’m still protected…!!! ???
Theres been a few posts on Comodo forum about missing tray icon, as for the desktop icon,it does not open the firewall GUI, what purpose it serves is anyones guess

Don’t you have a link to C:\Program Files\Comodo\cfp.exe -s
in your startup programs?
Yes, but the rare phenomenon occuring sometimes with Comodo 3 (it was occuring also with the betas version) is that you start up with a Comodo Icon in your system tray and all of a sudden with no reason at all it disappears (while I know the Comodo process is still on). The only problem then is if you want to open the Comodo Console without rebooting. 8)
i tried v3 with defense + installed and it did have lots of alerts…so i disabled the defence+ and everything was fine…but there were 2 BIG disadvantages…the first one was the ‘‘tray icon ghost’’ and the second was that i dont like seeing disabled “grey” features in the GUI of a protection program…i just done like it…i know it sounds crazy but i dont like it…i prefer having the defence+ window disappeared if i choose the “basic firewall”(with defense+ disabled) in the installation… :![]()
